Darkroom Self Portrait

“This piece is part of my series, The People Make the Place. Three years ago, I arrived at boarding school in California believing home was something I had left behind. The darkroom was initially unfamiliar, but learning film printing and cyanotypes transformed it into somewhere I belonged. I make photographs there, but the room made me, too. As graduation approaches, this self-portrait preserves a place that shaped who I am.”
